Belt oil skimmer

Belt oil skimmers are used in various types, portable and fixed, and in various materials. This is one of the most common oil skimmers, which is also produced by Mahar Fan Abzaar Company. We usually use this method when we have a large leak and a thick oil surface.

Oil Skimmer Stainless Chain / Stainless Mesh Type / Belt Type

** No consumables

Applicable to separate oil water in CNC machines, restaurant, resource recycling industry, mainly floating oil can be removed by oil skimmer
. Guarded with metal

  • Comparison of oil skimmer types

Disc type: shallow, invalid if water level is low

Belt type: Fear of heat, acid and alkali

Rigid strap type: afraid of bending and deformation

+ Chain type: not afraid of heat, acid and alkali resistance, not afraid of folding, not easy to deform, no need for oil and water separation box, good performance and easy to clean

3D printing of end-use parts used in belt oil skimmers

The company’s technicians decided to apply 3D printing elements to a belt oil skimmer . This device is used to remove oil buildup in coolant.

The separator belt immersed in the liquid collects the oil thanks to electrostatic adhesion.

Additionally, a skimmer separates the oil from the belt and directs it to a separate tank.

ASA

Increased chemical resistance to oil and grease

Project

Using two different 3D printing materials (PEKK and ASA) to produce end-use parts for a belt oil skimmer.

Goals

1. Reduce maintenance costs

PEKK material is characterized by high wear resistance, so in some applications it is able to replace elements usually made of steel or other metal alloys. Using this filament to print an oil skimmer made it possible to replace a 316 grade steel part. Its use enabled the company to reduce wear and tear on the conveyor belt. The 3D printed part on the 3DGence INDUSTRY F340 reflects low wear in contact with oil during lubrication and is resistant to most types of coolants and oils.

2. Reduce maintenance costs

Meprozet 3D printed motor housing with ASA material. This filament is characterized by increased chemical resistance to oils and greases used in the engineering industry, so it has proven itself well in this project. 3D printing allows the company to produce just a few housings at a very low cost. In addition, the company had the opportunity to test more iterations and adjust the product to its customer.
